Ian McKinlay is the Director of Investments at the Medical Protection Society, which provides indemnity cover for doctors, dentists and insurance professionals around the world.  Having joined MPS in April 2025, he has overseen changes to investment strategy, portfolio construction, and investment governance.  Ian is a qualified actuary with 20+ years’ experience as CIO in pensions and insurance including time at the Pension Protection Fund, and the staff pension schemes of Aviva, and the Lloyds Banking Group.  These followed complex, DB focused investment strategies alongside (in the case of Aviva and LBG) significant DC arrangements.  Ian is also a Senior Adviser for Avida International, a business consultancy advising large institutional investors (most recently NEST) on investment governance and strategy.
