Paul is Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director at Sheffield Mutual, a role he has held since 2018. After a very short and largely unremarkable side hustle writing and performing comedy whilst at university, he moved into financial services and has somehow remained there ever since. Since then, he has worked mainly in compliance roles, and acted as an SME across risk, product development, technology and product governance, giving him a broad view of how financial services businesses actually work and why compliance is rarely the most popular function in the room, but often the most useful.

Alongside his responsibilities at Sheffield Mutual, Paul is Chair of RSPCA Sheffield and Chair of the AFM's Regulatory Compliance and Governance Committee. He is passionate about helping mutuals embrace innovation, technology and growth without losing sight of good governance, regulatory standards and, most importantly, delivering good outcomes for members.
