Catherine Gavin

Associate Director, Actuarial & Insurance Consulting
Grant Thornton UK LLP

I am an actuary with 18 years of professional experience in the life insurance sector. My specialist area is with-profits and complex transactions of which I have wide experience from my time working in consultancy, at the FCA and in industry.

I joined Grant Thornton from the FCA where I was responsible for the actuarial scrutiny of complex life insurance transactions including Part VII transfers, Transfers of Engagements and Schemes of Arrangements, as well as reviews of with-profits products, management actions, and run-off plans. I had significant involvement in both the ‘Fair treatment of with-profits customers’ and the ‘Fair treatment of long-standing customers in the life insurance sector’ FCA thematic reviews. I have experience in Chrysalis and reattribution considerations, as well as more ‘business as usual’ with-profits matters.
