Who is AFM?

The Association of Financial Mutuals is the trade body that represents mutual and not-for-profit insurers, friendly societies and other financial mutuals across the UK.

A financial mutual is an organisation that supplies financial services products, and which is owned by its customers, or members. That means there are no shareholders to pay dividends to or account to, and a mutual can concentrate entirely on delivering products and services that best meet the needs of its customers.

Between them, AFM's 46 Members manage the savings, pensions, protection and healthcare needs of over 9 million people in the UK and Ireland, with annual premium income of £2.5 billion, assets of £40 billion and employ nearly 7,000 people (source: www.financialmutuals.org)

Do you have any guidelines for attendees?

We want everyone who attends our Conference to feel comfortable, enjoy the event and feel able to contribute positively and fully. As with all AFM events, we encourage attendees to read the AFM Behavioural Policy.

Who can go to the Conference?

The conference is open to all Members and Associate Members of AFM.

Non-members who actively work with, promote or have a strong interest in the mutual sector are also welcome to select the appropriate Non Member 1- night or 2-night package option, or attend as a non-member exhibitor.

What if I want to arrive in Manchester on the Sunday?

We know that some delegates may want to travel to Manchester on Sunday and stay overnight before the Conference starts.

If you require accommodation for the Sunday evening, please select the 2-night package, speak to the Event Team on 01780 484052, or email afm@trinityeventsolutions.co.uk

Subject to the number of people arriving early, we may organise an activity on the Sunday evening. We will let Members know over the coming months if we do decide to put something in place.

How do I find out who's attending the event?

A full list of confirmed exhibitors is published on this website. Delegates who have already registered their place will be able to log into their account and view a current list of delegates. A list of Exhibitors, Sponsors and delegates will also be available on the Conference app when it goes live a few weeks before Conference.

If you have any specific queries relating to attendance in the meantime, please contact the Event Team on AFM@trinityeventsolutions.co.uk

What is the dress code for the Conference and the Gala Dinner?

The dress code for the daytime Conference is business casual.

For the Monday evening Drinks Reception and Gala Dinner, the dress code is smart formal evening wear. Black Tie is not a requirement but is welcome.

What's your cancellation policy?

In the event that you've booked and find that you're unable to attend the event, we encourage you to find a colleague to take your place as the Conference offers an excellent networking opportunity for your organisation.

Please contact the Event Team on afm@trinityeventsolutions.co.uk as soon as possible so the rooming lists and table plans can be updated where necessary.

Whilst we'll allow a substitute if advised before 20th September, bookings are non-refundable, unless there is a change of government policy which means the event can no longer go ahead.

Can I specify who I want to sit next to at the Gala Dinner?

Seating requests are only accepted if you have purchased a Platinum Package.

AFM draws up a seating plan shortly before the event, based on the final attendance list and in a way that encourages networking opportunities across Members.

If you have any specific accessibility requirements you wish to discuss, please contact andrew@financialmutuals.org
