AFM Conference 2025

Mutuals - The Original Modern

Monday 13th - Tuesday 14th October

Hilton Manchester Deansgate, 303 Deansgate, Manchester M3 4LQ

Welcome from Andrew Whyte, Chief Executive, AFM

Welcome to the website for this year’s AFM Annual Conference.

Annual Conference is a real highlight of the year for everyone involved in AFM. It is a unique opportunity for over 250 leaders in the mutual insurance sector, their supporters and partners, to come together to share experiences, insight and expertise about issues that have a vital impact on the future of insurance and mutuality.

This year is special for the mutual insurance sector and the wider mutual and co-operative movement of which we are part. The United Nations has designated 2025 the International Year of Co-operatives, celebrating and championing the principles and values that we stand for. Here in the UK, we’ve seen the Government commit to support the growth of the mutual sector, creating exciting opportunities for AFM members and everyone who works with us.

So, it’s fitting that this year’s Annual Conference is in Manchester, which holds such a special place in the story of the mutual and co-operative movement. It’s also a city which blends a proud history with a contemporary outlook – which is also a defining characteristic of the mutual movement.

That distinctive combination of heritage and innovation, building on our profound and long-standing values to find new solutions to today’s challenges and continuing to meet people’s changing needs and aspirations, will be a core theme of this year’s Conference and is captured in the title: Mutuals – the original modern.

It will also be reflected in the Conference programme, featuring plenaries with great guest speakers, a range of lively breakout sessions and engaging, relevant and thought-provoking content throughout. There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking, catching up with old friends and making new ones, which we know delegates, sponsors and exhibitors value so much. And of course, the ever-popular Gala Dinner.

We’ll be updating this Conference website with details of the programme as speakers and other contributors are confirmed over the coming weeks – so watch this space!

Due to the popularity of Conference, in previous years we’ve had to close registrations several weeks before the event, so please book your place early this year, to avoid disappointment.

It promises to be another special event in an exciting year for AFM and I am looking forward to seeing you in Manchester in October.

All the best.

Andrew
